Blower assembly

Overview

The original arm blower assembly had components that were difficult to service. It also had several flow restrictions which reduced its efficiency.

Problem

Redesign the blower assembly to improve access to critical components. Improve and demonstrate efficiency increases to the blower motor.

Design Constraints

All in house parts must be manufactured with aluminum sheet metal. Off the shelf Mcmaster hardware.

Challenges

Mathematically modeling the flow network to demonstrate increases in assembly efficiency.

Results

The implementation of the new blower assembly resulted in a 25 percent increase in efficiency with the implementation of new valves and a complete overhaul of the flow path.
